New Exhibit Coming to the Monterey Bay Aquarium
Big Belly Sea Horse, coming soon to Monterey Bay AquariumOne of my most asked questions as an Aquarium Guide is “Where are the seahorses?” This is nearly always from a visitor who had been to the MBA in the past and loved watching the sea- horses. Alas, we haven’t had seahorses in a number of years. But – now we are! On November 7th the new bilingual exhibition, “Ocean in Motion/La Danza del Mar” opens which aims to build empathy for ocean animals through movement and play. I’ve seen renderings of what it will look like and it is going to be phenomenal! It features a vibrant coral reef with a custom-built wave machine, an expanded African penguin habitat (the penguins have been behind the scenes for almost a year) and multiple play areas that encourage children to connect with the ocean and its animals.
