Al Saroyan Masterbuilder: A Masterpiece on Pebble Beach Golf Links

Some people build houses. Others create works of art. Al Saroyan is one of those rare individuals who does both!
An accomplished architect, builder, and visionary, Al has been creating extraordinary homes and buildings for more than 50 years. A graduate of Cal Poly San Luis Obispo with a degree in architecture, he established his business in 1974 and eventually made Carmel his home in 1988. Over the decades, he has become one of the Monterey Peninsula’s most respected master builders, known for his distinctive Old World craftsmanship, architectural creativity, and extraordinary attention to detail. His work ranges from charming Carmel cottages and historic restorations to magnificent luxury estates and commercial properties.
What makes Al particularly interesting is that he is much more than a builder. He understands architecture, construction, engineering, and interior design, bringing all these disciplines together to create homes that are as beautiful as they are functional. His family-owned company, Saroyan Masterbuilder, carries on that tradition, while Lenox Hill Interiors, led by his daughter-in-law Mica Saroyan, adds another dimension to the family’s creative vision.
Last year I had the wonderful opportunity to interview Al for American Dream TV and tour his latest masterpiece at 3664 17 Mile Drive in Pebble Beach. What an experience! Al shared his philosophy of designing a home to complement its surroundings, and I can’t imagine a more spectacular example. At the time, it was not quite finished, but it has now been completed and staged with furnishings from Lenox Hill Fine Furnishings & Design.
Perched above the 14th green of the legendary Pebble Beach Golf Links, this newly completed 2026 estate offers breathtaking views of Carmel Bay, Stillwater Cove, and Point Lobos. With 8,572 square feet of luxurious living space, six bedrooms, a stunning Studio Becker chef’s kitchen, a 400-bottle wine room, and an extraordinary rooftop entertaining deck overlooking seven golf holes and the Pacific Ocean, every detail reflects Al’s exceptional craftsmanship and imagination.
Even the six-car garage is a showpiece, with porcelain tile floors and magnificent ocean and golf course views! As the first new home built directly on Pebble Beach Golf Links in 30 years, this is truly a once-in-a-generation property.
What impressed me most was not simply the grandeur of the home, but the thought, creativity, and passion behind it. Al Saroyan hasn’t simply built another magnificent estate—he has created an architectural legacy in one of the most iconic settings in the world.
