Thinking of Carmel? Stop the Car and check out this Carmel getaway!

NE Corner Torres and 9th, Carmel-by-the-Sea

One of the requests I hear often from folks that are looking for a Carmel getaway is, “We want to be able to walk to town.”  It’s no wonder that’s a frequent request, because Carmel is known as a charming village where residents can stroll to their favorite restaurant, take in a little wine tasting, or perhaps stop in at an art gallery opening.  If that is a desire of yours, look no more after you see this cozy vacation home today!  Three blocks from the heart of town, this residence is in a perfect location.

It would also make a perfect golf retreat to visit the Monterey Peninsula and play golf.  Don’t forget the AT&T Pro Am Golf Tournament is next week – wouldn’t it be delightful to have your own Carmel place to come to all of the wonderful events we have here?

Imagine sitting in this living room curled up with  a book in front of the fire.  Or perhaps entertaining friends and family and having a delicious meal.  This home has been rented out as a fully stocked vacation rental so if that is something you’re interested in, it’s already all set up.  Some owners love having a rental income part time and then they choose the times that they will be using the home and block out those weeks from the rental schedule.  There are many companies on the Monterey Peninsula that will handle all of the rentals for you so you have no headache!

Beautifully remodeled kitchen

The kitchen has been beautifully remodeled and out fitted with all the necessary dishes and pots and pans.  So come on by today and see this lovely home and let’s chat about Carmel real estate!

Chris Botti at the Sunset Center ~ Carmel-By-The-Sea 1/29/17

Chris Botti will play to a SOLD OUT crowd at the Sunset Center Sunday evening.  Every year I have missed seeing him, but last time I swore that the next time he came back – I would be there!  So this time I bought tickets as soon as the announcement was made that he was coming.

So I will be there this weekend, head cold and all, but I wouldn’t miss it for anything.  Chris has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist and puts on a fabulous show.  He has four #1 jazz albums along with multiple Gold, Platinum, and Grammy awards.   My husband said, “You mean he’s just going to play the trumpet all night? ” I told him – “just you wait!”

We are so lucky to have such a fabulous venue like the Sunset Center here in Carmel.  Wonderful entertainment is brought here practically at our door step without having to travel to San Jose or San Francisco – although I love our trips into the City to see shows.

Hope to see many of you there Sunday night – but if not – next time rush to buy tickets as soon as he is announced – he’s a sell out every time he comes.

For a list of upcoming events at the Sunset Center this year go to their web site but be sure to get your tickets as soon as possible – the great acts sell out fast!

P.S. Post show.  The show was fantastic!! Not only was Chris Botti amazing, but the array of musicians and singers he assembled for the show was awesome!  Thanks for the video, Kim!

Let’s Engage in Our Communities ~ Carmel, Pacific Grove, Pebble Beach, Monterey, Salinas

Luis Alejo, Monterey County Supervisor

“Meet Our Elected Officials”

The Women’s Council of Realtors Monterey Peninsula kicked off it’s first meeting of 2017 with an exciting panel of elected officials including a mayor, council members, and a Monterey County Supervisor.  The well attended meeting took place at the Corral de Tierra Country Club and was chaired by Carol Duncan, the WCR Monterey Peninsula 2017 President.  Scott Dick, the MCAR Government Affairs Chair led the panel discussion.

The panel included left to right, Cynthia Garfield, Pacific Grove Council member; Mayor Steve Dallas of Carmel; Nick Smith, Pacific Grove Council member; Luis Alejo, Monterey County Supervisor; and Dan Albert, Monterey Council member (standing).  Each panelist gave a short talk on the concerns they were dealing with in their cities which was followed by a lively question and answer session. All panelists encouraged everyone to get involved in their communities and spoke how critical it was that realtors be engaged and involved in our cities.

The Women’s Council of Realtors is a national organization with the following mission statement:

“We are a network of successful REALTORS®, advancing women
as professionals and leaders in business, the industry and the communities we serve.”

WCR was founded in 1938 and has grown to 12,500 members with 252 local networks all over the country.  It was my honor to be the Charter President of our Monterey Peninsula network which began in October 2001.  Since then we have had many great realtor leaders who have grown the organization into an amazing network that brings education, leadership skills and camaraderie to its members.

Camaraderie is big part of WCR Pictured from left to right Lori Jabukowski, Molly McGee, Michele Henderson, and Susan Clark. All but Michele are past presidents of WCR Monterey Peninsula

We also hold fundraisers and donate to local charities.  Many of our presidents have gone on to serve as presidents of the Monterey County Association of Realtors and hold state and national positions.  If you are a local realtor and are not currently a member,  I can only ask, “Why not”.

Havana Nights

SAVE THE DATE  WCR Monterey Peninsula will hold its annual fundraiser September 13, 2017.  It will be one of our famous fashion shows with the theme of Havana Nights and will be a luncheon at Inn at Spanish Bay.  There are opportunities to be a sponsor or to donate a Silent Auction Item. (Sorry this poster is a bit crinkled but I hope you can get the idea).  It is going to be a HOT fashion show so don’t miss out!

Theater is alive and well in Carmel CA! Sister Act at Pac Rep

Not only do we have ballet in Carmel, but we have wonderful theater – New York has nothing on us!  Pacific Repertory theater – affectionally known as Pac Rep– has many fine offerings throughout the year.

Last Thursday my husband and I saw “Sister Act” and it was fabulous!  This  is musical based on the 1992 hit movie that starred Whoopi Goldberg.  It was adapted for theater and made into an amazing musical that played in London and Broadway and all over the country including Carmel.  The lead was an equity actress from New York with the rest of the cast filled by excellent local actors.  What great talent we have on the Monterey Peninsula!

Left Lavonne Rae Andrews, Mother Superior and Right Jalene Goodwin, the lead playing Deloris Van Cartier

It’s interesting to read their bios.  Many of them have other careers like Bri Slama, who teaches 5th graders at Spreckels Elementary School and Seaneen Scott Sullinger who played Sister Mary Patrick.  She’s a neonatal nurse at Community Hospital.  They all seem to find time to fulfill their passion though!

Unfortunately, last night was the last night for Sister Act, but there will be many more wonderful plays and musicals coming up including a wonderful holiday show.  So if you are planning a night out soon – don’t forget to check out what’s at Pac Rep.  It is located at the Golden Bough Theater on Monte Verde and 9th.

Thinking about moving to Carmel after the first of the year?  Give me a call and let’s chat!  Susan Clark, Alain Pinel Realtors.
